The Ministry Of Commerce & Industry Commences General Inspection Exercise And Calls On The Business Community To Give Full Cooperation

Monrovia --- Liberia September 4, 2018: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry will commence its general inspections of all business establishment on Monday, September 10th and ends on Saturday, October 20, 2018. The objectives of these inspection exercises are to provide protection for consumers and to ensure continuous compliance with applicable laws, procedures and standards.


Inspectors will conduct field inspection from Monday – Thursday 9:00 AM to 4:00PM only. This inspection will be guided by the Ministry’s general inspection guidelines with focus on the following cardinal areas:


  1. Business Registration Enforcement
  2. General Commodity Standard Inspection
  3. Market Surveillance and Price Monitoring
  4. Liquor Registration Enforcement
  5. General Market Standard Training
  6. Investment Code enforcement and
  7. Price Tag enforcement


Also, the Metrology division at the National Standards Laboratory will be carrying out the Bureau of Industrial Services general verification exercises. The division will scale on weights and measure all establishments which including supermarkets, Butchery shops, Filling Stations and etc.


This process is being carried out to ensure that consumers receive the required quantity of petroleum products and other consumable commodities.


Meanwhile, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry reminds all business establishment including supermarkets, Stores, Provision shops to price tag their commodities in both Liberian Dollars (LD) and United States Dollars (USD) base on Central Bank Prevailing rate.
