The Environmental Protection Agency, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), recently conducted a Cross-Cutting Capacity Development (CCCD) Technical Training Session in Buchana City, Grand Bassa County.

The exercise was intended for participants to understand and reconcile weaknesses and gaps in key environmental policies and legal instruments.
 

It was held from July 23-25, 2019, under the Theme: “Understanding environmental policies and regulations; a path to sustainable development,” with support from the Global Environmental Facility (GEF).

The training session brought together policy makers and other stakeholders from the various line  Ministries, Agencies and Commissions, including the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Agency, Ministries  of Commerce and Industry, Agriculture, and  Mines and Energy,

The occasion was also attended by The Forestry Development Authority and The National Wash, Sanitation and Hygiene Commission, with several representatives of the mentioned institutions making presentations on the acts that created their respective Ministries, Agencies and Commissions.

On the second day of the training, following the various presentations on the previous  day, the participants were placed in a group of four, and tasked with the responsibility of identifying the Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) Analysis on   the various acts creating the following Ministries, Agencies and Commissions.

They include the Environmental Protection Agency, Forestry Development Authority, National Fisheries and Aquaculture Agency, Ministry of Agriculture National Wash, Sanitation and Hygiene Commission, Ministry of Mines and Energy.

Day three of the program saw the participants also tasked with the responsibility of   analyzing the Gaps, Overlaps and make appropriate   recommendations to policy makers.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry was represented at the three-day Cross-Cutting Capacity Development (CCCD) Technical Training Session in Buchanan City, Grand Bassa County by the Executive Assistant to Commerce and Industry Minister, Professor Wilson K. Tarpeh, Madam Ellen Senyon-Howard..
