Global Platform on Enhanced Intergrated Framework


The Enhanced Integrated Framework invited, Deputy Commerce Minister Cyril A. Allen II, to its Global Platform held on 17-19 March 2015 at the WTO Secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland.

 

Minister Allen as EIF (Liberia) Focal Point was invited to update the Global Platform on Liberia’s experience with the EIF Program as well as provide a Liberian Program status update. Liberia as a country has been a success story with the EIF since its launch in 2009. Both Liberia’s current Trade Policy and Export Strategy have been developed with technical support from the EIF secretariat. To date one of the biggest success stories of the EIF Program in Liberia is the Launch of “The Liberia Marketplace” a trade store were Liberian entrepreneurs and creators/artists can exhibit authentic made in Liberia goods.

 

The EIF program is the main Global Aid-for-Trade program for Least Developed Countries. Minister Allen was selected for different sessions focusing on resource mobilization, DTIS update and the role of the Ministry of Commerce in supporting economic diversification.  

 

The Global Platform was aimed at endorsing the next phase of the EIF program (2016-2022) and mobilizing additional resources to support export diversification, trade facilitation and regional integration projects.
