Monday, January 27, 2020: Press Release: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with the Managements of LPRC and the National Port Authority (NPA), on Monday, January 27, 2020, held a meeting with stakeholders in the petroleum Industry of Liberia to discuss issues surrounding the sector.

As a result of the meeting, LPRC and the stakeholders agreed to lift products to all stations.

The Commerce Ministry established that long queues at various filling stations over the past few days were due to misunderstanding within the Petroleum Sector of Liberia.

The Ministry said figures (inventory date) made available by importers suggest that there is sufficient quantity by of Petroleum products in Country that can meet up with the current market demand.

The Commerce Ministry has instructed all gas stations to do away with Jerry can selling, while the LPRC takes necessary steps to meet the needs of Jerry can sellers, as additional efforts continue to expand the jetty for the accommodation of the larger vessels in Liberia.

“While we take note of the current difficulties being experienced in getting gasoline to the public, we equally call for calm as frantic efforts aimed at addressing the matter continue.”  Commerce Minister Wilson Tarpeh, observed. 

As part of constructive efforts intended to find a permanent solution to the current matter, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with   the Managements of LPRC and the National Port Authority continued with the meetings with stakeholders in the petroleum sector of Liberia at the Commerce Ministry at the Ministerial Complex in Congo Town, Tuesday, January 28, 2020.
