The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) Refutes Social Media Reports
Press Release: Wednesday: July 10, 2024: The attention of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has been drawn to fake links circulating on the social media, insinuating that the Ministry is soliciting applications from businesses for loans, grants and other forms of financial assistance.
The Ministry wishes to inform the public that such information is untrue, and categorically states that the links being used to share the false information are fake and dubious in nature. Against this backdrop, we are admonishing the public, mainly the business community, not to give any credence to what is being circulated on social media.
The Ministry emphatically urges the public to beware of dubious elements who are bent on using unapproved or fake social media links for extortion purposes and other criminal activities.
The various loan programs being administered by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with its partners are well-organized, guided by policy measures and administered with transparency and accountability.
Meanwhile, we wish to state that anyone who ignores the Ministry’s clarification and engages in any transactions with these extortionists will be doing so at his or her own risk.
