Ministry of Commerce and Industry Hosted a One-day Inspection Conference

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) in collaboration with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Better Regulation Delivery Office (BRDO) of the British Government hosted a one-day inspection conference aimed at bringing together both private and public stakeholders.


The Conference themed “Business Inspection Reform: Transforming the Private Sectors for Liberia’s Future”, was opened by Hon. Miata Beysolow. Minister Beysolow catalogued the reforms that are taking place within the Inspectorate Division; and she highlighted the linkages between inspection functions and transforming the business environment for the betterment of enterprises whose growth remains critical to the implementation of the Agenda for Transformation. Other presenters during the conference were the Assistant Minister for Commerce and Trade, Steve Marvie, the British Government BRDO Executive Director, Graham Russell and IFC Consultant Donald McCrae. Their presentations covered Risk-Based Inspection and Inspection Harmonization and the range of reforms that are still necessary to facilitating the growth relationship that we would like to see between inspection and business.


The Inspection Conference was held on Thursday, 24 January 2013 at the Bella Casa Hotel, 3rd Street, Sinkor and was attended by more than nine ministries and agencies and a host of private sector stakeholders.
