Ministry of Commerce & Industry (MoCI) Commences Quarterly Inspection Exercise

Monrovia, Liberia – The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) commenced its quarterly inspection exercise of business entities on Monday, 8 February 2016. This inspection exercise, which is to end on Thursday, 3 March 2016, is part of the MoCI’s regular quarterly inspection exercise aimed at protecting the consuming public.

 

The inspection exercise is supervised by the Bureau of Industrial Services of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. It is an intensive inspection exercise guided by the MoCI’s General Inspection Guideline that focuses on business registration enforcement, general commodity standard inspection and market surveillance and price monitoring. The inspection exercise covers the Mini – Marts, Supermarkets, Grocery Stores, Cold Storage and Convenience Stores. It also includes the verification of the weights and scales measurement of Gas Stations, Supermarkets, Butcher Shops and Scrap Dealers.

 

To date, business houses have expressed satisfaction in the manner in which the inspection exercise has been conducted. Consumers, on the other end, have been applauding the Ministry of Commerce and Industry for this initiative.
