MOCI Submits 2014/15 budget execution report to the National Legislature

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry Team on July 1, 2015 Appeared before the  Joint  House Committee on Ways and Means to report on the execution of the 2014/2015 Budget.
 Acting   Minister Cyril Allen, II highlighted the Ministry’s achievements in fiscal year 2014/15 and the Ministry of Commerce Draft Budget (2015/2016).

 

Some of the achievements highlighted by Acting Minister Allen included:


 
•    The acquisition of 25acres of land for the construction of the Lofa Women Weaving Center Project.
•    The launch of the “Made in Liberia” trade Store.
•    Acquisition of five regional offices in Lofa, Bassa, Nimba, Bong and Margibi countries.
•    Facilitation of the launch of Liberia’s first Post War Private Sector rice processing facility among others, etc.

 

The Acting minister informed the body that low budgetary allocation is one of the major constraints facing the operations of the Ministry.

 

The legislature accepted the report with minor comments. The committee encouraged the Ministry to publicize their achievements in order to keep the public informed. In response to the draft budget 2015/2016, the Committee assured the MoCI team of its commitment to ensuring that the Ministry receives adequate funding to help it execute its mandate.
