Second Launch of the Mobile Business Registration Exercise - Redlight, Paynesville

Redlight, Paynesville – On Thursday, 19 April 2016, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, National Social Security and Welfare Corporation and the Liberia Revenue Authority launched the second round of the Mobile Business Registration (MBR) Exercise in the densely populated Redlight Market, Paynesville, Montserrado County.

 

The Redlight MBR Launch was the first to be held in Montserrado County, the most populated county in Liberia. The message was the loud and clear, amidst the echoes of buyers’ songs from the market. Madam Lusu Sloan, President, Liberia Marketing Association, and Shelk Jalloh, President, Paynesville Business Association, participated in the launch. Madam Sloan encouraged the government to improve on its awareness to encourage more market women to pay their taxes. LRA Assistant Commissioner Sebastian Weah encouraged the marketers to participate in the MBR exercise.

 

Honorable Steve Marvie, Deputy Minister for Commerce, spoke on behalf of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, while Assistant Commissioner Sebastian Weah spoke on behalf of the Liberia Revenue Authority.

 

The Mobile Business Registration was initially launched in Robertsport, Grand Cape Mount County and is a major dry season deliverable for the Ministry of Commerce and Industry under the leadership of the Honorable Minister Axel M. Addy.
