The Ministry of Commerce & Industry visits major business entities to assure them of Government's support during the Ebola crisis .

The Minister of Commerce & Industry Hon. Axel M. Addy, on Friday August 23 toured several warehouses of major rice importers and local producers of sanitary materials. The importers assured the Minister and the general public that there is enough rice in their various warehouses and there is no need for speculation by some individuals about the lack of rice and other essential commodities on the market.


During the inspection exercise, The Minister was accompanied by the Deputy Minister for Industry and Inspector General, Public Affairs and a group of journalists to verify the availability of rice and other essential commodities. The inspection team started at the United Commodity Incorporated (UCI) and later visited SWAT warehouse, in a separate remark both company spoke about over 80, 000 and 86, 000 tons of rice in stock; the Minister also toured NPA Terminal  LPRC facility, Aqua Life Mineral Water Company, MANO manufacturing and Sethi Brothers Incorporated respectively.


These institutions assured the public that all necessary measures are in place to prevent any hike and shortage of commodities on the market. The Minister called on the public through the media to report any practice by businesses that are not in line with the general business law of Liberia. He also encourage the public to join the fight against the Ebola virus by taking advantage of all the preventive measures put in place by Government and partners.
