The Ministry of Commerce Quarterly General Inspection Kicks Off
The long awaited quarterly inspection has started at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry with trained inspectors deployed in (12) zones in Monrovia and its environs.
The issue of inspection at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has been a long standing problem considering capacity gap and professionalism shown by inspectors during the conduct of the exercise.
In an effort to build a strong public image coupled with the compelling needs for revenue generation, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry introduced the concept of Rebranding the Ministry with the view of changing from the status quo to that of a refine and corporate culture that will serve the needs of the consuming public and Liberian people at large.
This quarter’s inspection will focus mainly on three key sectors such as Frozen Food, Building Materials and Electronics.
Last year witnessed the inspection exercise generating a little over One Hundred Thousand United States Dollars and Four Hundred Thousand Liberian Dollars (US$100,000.00) & (L$ 400,000.00) respectively.
At the opening program, Minister Axel M. Addy encouraged the inspectors to exhibit high degree of professionalism “as you are the direct Ambassadors of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to the business community”.
However, the inspection will last for one month: February 23 – March 23, 2015.
