President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Inaugurates Fabrar Liberia Inc and Hope Bakery Inc.

President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf inaugurated Liberia`s local Rice Processing facility which is being operated by Fabrar Liberia Incorporated in Kakata, Margibi County on the 9th of April 2015. Fabrar is a Liberian-owned enterprise Agrobusiness focused on processing, packaging and marketing locally produced products. The business is expected to improve food productivity in Liberia by enlightening the livelihoods of farmers and increased their access to domestic and international markets.

 


President Sirleaf identifies the new venture as a major step forward in what the country needs, especially when the country’s natural resources and the extractive industry are being exhausted rapidly.

 

The Liberian leader stressed that agriculture is the enterprise of the future, the way to future growth and development of the country; noting that if all Liberians do their part in this sector, Liberia will have a future.

 


President Sirleaf thanked Fabrar for the five years of patience to reach this far.  “I want to commend you. I want to applaud you and your team. Your perseverance, innovation and determination is the only thing that could have brought you to where you are today. You didn’t give up.”

 


Deputy Commerce Minister Cyril A. Allen, II thanked the Government of Liberia, United States Agency for International Development (USAID-FED), West Africa Venture Fund (WAVF) and the International Financial Corporation (IFC) for their support, what he described as a significant achievement.

 


Minister Allen, II reaffirmed government’s commitment to improving private sector growth through the provision of support to micro, small and medium business enterprises.

 


The Chief Executive Officer of Fabrar Liberia, Inc. Fabio Lavelanet, thanked the Liberian Government, USAID, West African Venture Fund and International Finance Corporation among other partners for their support towards the realization of his company’s dream.

 


The Liberian President also dedicated Liberia`s first modern bakery, Hope Bakery Liberia Incorporated on the A.B. Tolbert Road in Paynesville. The facility is valued at over US$300,000, solely owned by Liberians with support from the West African Venture Fund.
