President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Visits Biscuit Factory
Monrovia-Liberia, Friday May 22, 2015 the President of the Republic of Liberia H.E. Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf visited Liberia’s premiere biscuit producing company, TIBA Industrial Group.
The program which was held at the company’s production plant located on L.P.R.C Road, Somalia Drive brought together several officials of government from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Ministry of Labor and the Liberia Bank for Development and Investment (LBDI) and the National Bureau of Concessions. The private sector was also represented by the Liberia Chambers of Commerce and the Liberia Business Association.
During the visit, Tiba’s General Manager Riskallah Gharib took President Sirleaf and her corps of officers on a guided tour of the company’s facilities. The President expressed her satisfaction with Tiba’s products and encouraged TIBA to expand their current production. President Sirleaf also commended the Management of Tiba Industrial Group for their contribution to Liberia’s economic recovery process and called on other investors to follow suit. “Tiba’s role in the Liberian economy is a good model for other business institutions to follow” she concluded.
Also speaking at the program, Commerce and Industry Minister Hon. Axel Addy expressed gratitude for the level of organization at the company and encouraged Tiba to create more job opportunities for young Liberians who are willing and qualified to work.
For his part, the company’s General Manager Mr. Riskallah Gharib thanked the Government of Liberia for its support and */requested more government support in Tiba’s expansion efforts. According to him, it is important to protect local industries so as to empower them to increase revenue and create employment opportunities. Mr. Gharib also mentioned that the company has begun the exportation of its products to Mano River Union Countries.
