The Netherlands Economic Trade Mission to Liberia

Minister Axel M Addy calls for Dutch investment in Liberia; highlights key sectors to Dutch Trade Delegation headed by the Honorable Minister (Lilianne Ploumen) for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
 


Addressing the media on Toward Stability, Recovery, and Transformation for Inclusive Growth, Minister Addy stressed on how Trade can be an important instrument for poverty reduction and wealth creation.  Minster Addy underscored priority sectors to include: investment in in-land water transport, dredging of the Port of Monrovia, financing facilities for SMEs in Agro-processing, and training opportunities for Liberians including marine sciences.


 
Minister Addy in November 2014 met with Minister Lilianne Ploumen at the Sparks Ignite Conference where he discussed with Minister Ploumen possible investment opportunities in Liberia. The Dutch Minister promised Minister Addy that she will lead a delegation of Dutch investors to the three Ebola affected countries to show the world that the three countries should not be abandoned because of a health crisis.  Today’s (July 6, 2015) visit fulfills that promise. She arrived in Liberia with some thirty different Dutch companies. This event created a platform where Liberian entrepreneurs and other private actors can meet and share their stories with Dutch Investors and a unique opportunity to explore better investment opportunities for Liberians. The Dutch Foreign Trade Minister, Lilianne Ploumen announced several initiatives including the Dutch Growth Fund which is aimed at improving African SMEs access to the European market
