Liberian Chief Executive, Dr. George Manneh Weah has formally launched a USD$40m Financing Agreement aimed at supporting Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Liberia. USD $20million or 50% of the 40m represents an International Development Association (IDA) grant, while the other USD$20million or 50% represents a concessional IDA credit.
President George Manneh Weah launched a $40m finance and trade project in partnership with the World Bank. The project aims to improve the investment climate, increase efficiency of trade, and address gaps between men and women's participation in economic activities. The LIFT-P Project will also support the National Single Window and the provision of a National Electronic Payment Switch. The project will create an enabling environment for investment, trade, and commerce.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI), has carried out upward adjustment in the salaries of 142 employees within its Inspectorate Division. The salary increment, which takes effective as of February 2023 affects 2 Regional Coordinators, 14 Senior County Inspectors and 126 other inspectors.
The Minister of Commerce and Industry, Madam Mawine G. Diggs, has recommitted Liberia to global efforts geared toward the protection and promotion of Intellectual Property. She also re-affirmed Liberia’s commitment to the World Trade Organization and multilateral trade system.
