Liberian Second Lady Visits Commerce Ministry--Calls for Unity Amongst Liberians

The Second Lady of Liberia, Synleseh Stephenie Dahn-Koung, is calling for unity amongst Liberians in support of national development. The Liberian Second Lady noted that without collaboration and unity, Liberia may not realize the nature of development that is required.

Madam Dahn-Koung made the call this week, when she paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Commerce & Industry, Magdalene Dagoseh at the EJS Ministerial Complex in Congo Town. During the visit, the Liberian Second Lady introduced an initiative named- the KPEKOR Project, established for the empowerment of women, girls, and children living with disabilities.

Madam Dahn- Koung added that the KPEKOR Project will include the development of a housing facility designed to host more than 200 individuals with disabilities from across Liberia. Besides, the project will provide small business opportunities to help beneficiaries become self-reliant and improve their livelihoods.

The Liberian Second Lady appealed to Minister Dagoseh and team to partner with her office in making her vision a resounding reality and to ensure its impact on the lives of women and girls living with disabilities in the country. “This project is about dignity, empowerment, and practical support for some of our most vulnerable citizens. We want to see women and their children with disabilities not just survive, but thrive,” the Liberian Second Lady added.

She commended Commerce & Industry Minister, Magdalene Dagoseh and team for their hard work in the interest of the country. Responding, Minister Dagoseh hailed Madam Dahn-Koung for the visit and further commended her for the KPEKOR Project- describing it as transformative. She pledged the Ministry’s support toward the successful implementation of the project.

“We at the Ministry of Commerce & Industry are fully prepared to work along with your office for the fulfillment of your vision,” Minister Dagoseh said. She called on fellow Liberians to stop talking, but begin taking actions that will bring the needed dividends to the entire citizenry, especially those living with disabilities.

The Commerce & Industry Minister re-echoed Second Lady Dahn-Koung’s call for unity and collaboration amongst Liberians in support of national development. Minister Dagoseh also called other ministries and agencies of government to support the KPEKOR Project, adding that it has the potential to create sustainable economic opportunities for women and girls living with disabilities, as well as their families.
