Top US Government Official Praises Prof. Tarpeh

Thursday, June 27, 2019:  A top official of the United States Government has described Liberia’s Commerce and Industry Minister, Prof. Wilson K. Tarpeh, as a   shining example of diligent and experienced public officials in Liberia.


US Assistant Secretary of States for Education and Cultural Affairs, Marie Royce, said Prof. Tarpeh’s   colossal contributions to development cut across the borders of Liberia and continue to be felt in the annals of history.


Madam Royce made reference to Minister Tarpeh’s work at the University of Liberia, where he held several positions, including Vice President for Fiscal Affairs and Finance and Dean of Graduate School of Business.


The US top government official rendered the Commerce and Industry Minister the recognition Thursday in Monrovia, at the ongoing Liberia Development Conference at the Monrovia City Hall.


During the program, Prof. Tarpeh was urged to stand up as the audience embraced his recognition by the top US government official with a round of applause.

 

The US under Secretary for Education and Cultural Affairs also made reference to Professor Tarpeh’s work at the African Development Bank (AfDB),  where he served as Executive Director on its Board of Directors, representing the Gambia, Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leone.

Secretary Royce also hailed the Liberian   Commerce and Industry Minister who also   served as President of the Agricultural Development Bank and Finance Minister of the Republic of Liberia.


The  Liberian Commerce and Industry Minister brings to the table considerable volume of experience in public service. Professor Tarpeh, a  Former Finance Minister of Liberia Executive Director of the African Development Bank( AfDB), and Former President of the Agriculture Cooperative Development Bank, carries    several weighty credentials, including  a Bachelors of Law (LLB) from the Louise Arthur Grimes School of Law, University of Liberia; a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance from the I. University of Pennsylvania; a Master of Science (M.S.) in Accounting from the University of New Haven, New Haven Connecticut, USA; and a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree (BBA) in Management from the University of Liberia.
